The April 2025 Edition of “The Chirp”, the official Sparrow’s Nest newsletter, features an inspirational note from Founder and Executive Director, Krista Jones.

A Note from the Founder Before the flowers bloom, it rains, sometimes….ALOT, just like it’s doing now. That’s the deal. Spring doesn’t show up in a blaze of glory—it tiptoes in through that rain. It makes us wait. It tests our patience. But every drop, every gray day, is doing its work—nourishing, strengthening, preparing the ground for something better. That’s where we’ve been.Sparrow’s Nest has gone through its own season of rain. The kind of growth we’ve seen this year didn’t come without hard days and heavy lifts. But it also didn’t come without heroes.Because growth—real growth—takes everyday people who show up in the storm anyway. Who hold the umbrella for someone else. Who cook, drive, donate, and love through the downpour. This year, we’re stepping into something big. Bold. For the first time ever, we’re feeding anyone in Dutchess County facing a cancer diagnosis—not just families with children. That shift is massive. It means more meals, more homes, more hearts wrapped in care. It means no one walks alone. And just like spring, this mission wouldn’t bloom without a little rain—and a whole lot of heroes. As we kick off this year’s Superhero Rock & Run, I want you to know: You are the superhero. The cape might be in your closet, but the superpower is already in you—kindness, compassion, grit, and the guts to make a difference.Thank you for standing with us through the storms. The sunshine is coming, the flowers are blooming, and because of you, Sparrow’s Nest is ready to soar higher than ever.
With love and endless gratitude,
Krista
