The July 2025 Edition of “The Chirp”, the official Sparrow’s Nest newsletter features a heartfelt message from founder and Executive Director, Krista Jones.

A Note from the Founder

Summer has officially landed—and with it, the beautiful chaos. School’s out, routines are upside down, and suddenly parents are responsible for three meals a day (plus 47 snacks if you’ve got kids like mine). For many families, that shift is stressful. But for families in the middle of a cancer diagnosis? It can feel impossible.

Thanks to incredible partnership with our local farmers, we’re bringing the absolute best produce straight to the doorsteps of our Sparrow’s Nest families. We’re talking just-picked zucchinis, bursting blueberries, tomatoes that taste like sunshine. These fresh, wholesome ingredients become the meals that help our recipients stay strong enough to keep showing up for their chemo appointments—and for their families.

Nutritious food isn’t a luxury. It’s a lifeline.

And when we pour money back into the hands of our local farmers, we’re doing more than just feeding people—we’re feeding our community. We’re keeping small farms alive, supporting neighbors who’ve supported us, and creating a ripple effect of kindness and resilience.

This season, every salad, every side dish, every farm-fresh bite is a love letter. From you. From our farmers. From Sparrow’s Nest. To someone who needs it more than you know. Your financial donations give us the support to do this each and every year.

With endless gratitude,

Krista

DINK & DRIVE CHARITY INVITATIONAL

Get ready for a weekend full of dinks, drives, and downright good times! We’re hosting our first-ever Pickleball Tournament AND Simulated Golf Showdown at the brand new Hudson Valley Pickleball and Golf — all happening August 22–24!

It’s indoors, so you won’t be sweating like a popsicle at a pool party — unless you’re ultra-competitive, in which case… bring a towel.

Whether you’re in it to win it or just here for the vibes, pick your poison (paddles or putters) and join us for an unforgettable weekend. Best part? Proceeds feed families facing a cancer diagnosis right here in our community.

All registrations include entry to our Saturday Night Cocktail Party — with free food, live music, and all the fun your weekend’s been missing.

Register now and let’s rally for something bigger than the score.

Thank you – George Stoll Construction, John A. Giaimo Electric and Page Lumber.

FARM TO TABLE GALA

Please save the date for our upcoming Farm to Table Gala,  held at our home on Friday September 26th. Tickets go on sale August 15th.

There are many unique ways to help Sparrow’s Nest raise money to feed people battling cancer and it isnt always about writing a check.

We are looking for getaways for our silent auction at this year’s Farm to Table Gala in September.

If you have extra timeshare weeks or have a destination home and would be willing to donate a week, please reply to this email to learn about the tax benefits of doing so.

Every single donation helps.
